Job description

• DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
• The Operating Room Staff Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of the patient while in the operating room or treatment room. This position requires on-call rotation with 60 minute response time.
• QUALIFICATIONS
• Professional/Educational
• Current Illinois license with biennial renewal and required CEUs.
• Previous experience in operating room or related area preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of principles of asepsis.
• Certified by the American Heart Association in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
• Basic computer skills.
• DCFS Mandated Reporter Certificate of Completion required.
• Personal
• Maintains good physical and emotional well-being.
• Possesses personal qualities such as kindness, sympathy, understanding, respect, good judgement, integrity, loyalty, a sense of humor and an ability to relate effectively to patients, their families, and staff.
• Evidence of knowledge and ability to use proper channels of communication.
• Willingness to participate in call schedule and work irregular hours as necessary.
• Realizes that errors or incompetency may cause serious complications for patients and appreciates the importance of setting a good example for others.

Actual pay will be determined by qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
