Good Samaritan University Hospital, a member of Catholic Health, is seeking a high-caliber Intensivist to join our state-of-the-art, Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) in West Islip, NY. Our CVICU cares for patients with surgical (CTICU) and medical (CCU) cardiovascular disease.
The unit operates under a high-acuity, multidisciplinary model catering to a dynamic and diverse cardiac population. The Intensivist will provide high-level, comprehensive critical care for patients spanning the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease, including:

• Advanced Heart Failure patients and those presenting in acute Cardiogenic Shock

• General Cardiac Critical Care patients with severe acute coronary syndromes, life-threatening arrhythmias, post-cardiac arrest syndrome, and multisystem organ failure
Working closely alongside cardiothoracic surgeons, heart failure specialists, interventional cardiologists, advanced practice providers (APPs), and specialized critical care nurses, the physician will lead coordinated patient management and drive the continued growth of our comprehensive cardiovascular service line.
The hospital’s new 300,000 square foot, six story Patient Care Pavillion opened on December 15, 2025 with a new pediatric and adult emergency department, sixteen (16) new operating rooms and new private patient care rooms equipped with smart-room technology. With the planned future expansion of critical care into this new pavillion we expect the volume and acuity of the CVICU to continue to rise.

• Procedures: Perform bed-side critical care procedures (e.g., central venous access, arterial lines, chest tubes, intubations, diagnostic/bedside ultrasound/echocardiography) aligned with training and privileges.
• Transitions & Escalation: Direct clinical management during acute destabilization, cardiogenic shock escalation protocols, and transitions of care across the continuum.
• Team Supervision & Education: Provide mentorship, clinical supervision, and hands-on education to APPs, fellows, residents, and nursing staff.
• Patient & Family Engagement: Lead compassionate, transparent discussions regarding goals of care, prognosis, and treatment strategies with patients and their families.
