The Tax Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, validating, and reporting tax-related financial and operational data to support accurate tax compliance, reporting, and business decision-making.
• Collect, consolidate, and analyze tax-related data from financial, payroll, accounting, and operational systems.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc tax reports, schedules, reconciliations, and data analyses.
• Validate tax data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable requirements.
• Identify discrepancies, anomalies, and data integrity issues and work with appropriate departments to resolve them.
• Support federal, state, and local tax reporting and compliance activities.
• Assist with preparation of documentation and supporting schedules for internal and external tax audits.
• Analyze tax data to identify trends, variances, potential risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Develop and maintain spreadsheets, dashboards, and reporting tools used for tax analysis and management reporting.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Payroll, HR, and other departments to research and resolve tax-related data issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation of data sources, calculations, methodologies, and reporting processes.
• Assist with tax-related projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
• Monitor changes in tax requirements and assist in assessing their potential impact on organizational processes and reporting.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial, payroll, employee, and other sensitive information.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in tax analysis, financial analysis, accounting, data analytics, payroll, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, lookups, and data validation.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Ability to interpret financial and tax-related information and communicate findings clearly.
