POSITION SUMMARY
This role utilizes knowledge of education principles and clinical practice to support nursing professional development in collaboration with the Professional Practice and Development (PPD) team, including the PPD Specialist for the assigned area. The position functions as an extension of the PPD team, providing unit-based support for education, competency, and professional development activities.
This role contributes to a culture of professional practice and promotes ongoing development of clinical staff. This role builds effective working relationships with the nursing care team and collaborates with leadership and the PPD Specialist to address unit-based needs.
In collaboration with the PPD Specialist, this role assists in identifying educational needs and supports the implementation of education and competency activities for the assigned area. Responsibilities include facilitating education, reinforcing standards of practice and care, and supporting staff adherence to policies and procedures. This role assists with competency validation processes and supports the delivery and evaluation of competency-based education as directed by the PPD team.
This role supports organizational and unit-specific goals by participating in performance improvement initiatives, contributing to unit-based PDCA cycles, and promoting a team-based approach to problem-solving. This role provides operational and educational support to help clinical staff achieve safe, high-quality patient outcomes.
In partnership with the PPD and unit leadership teams, this role supports the integration of evidence-based practice by reinforcing established best practices and assisting with the dissemination of education and practice updates. This role contributes to ongoing quality and practice improvement efforts as directed by the PPD Specialist and organizational priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or Multistate Registered Nurse license required. AHA BLS required upon hire or transfer. Additional requirements as identified by the unit (Ex: ACLS PALS, etc.).
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years clinical experience required; expert knowledge of and ability to teach adult teaching principles required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as leadership skills required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens along with infectious diseases. (Refers to Blood Bourne Pathogen requirement) Essential functions of this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Manager of Professional Practice & Development.
