Standard Hours: 40.00
Shift: Shift 1
Shift Details: 5 shifts per week, 0800-1630, flexible scheduling required to support all 3 shifts, weekends and holidays may be required.
Job Summary:
The Phlebotomy Services Educator is a practicing phlebotomist and educator. In collaboration with the Phlebotomy Manager/Supervisors/Leads, creates and maintains training and competency assessment modules for all aspects of phlebotomy and Organizational requirements. Responsible for the training of new employees and students in the technical aspects of phlebotomy as well as the computer skills required. The Educator is also responsible for helping current employees maintain their competency. Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
A minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience is required, including inpatient and outpatient clinical phlebotomy setting. Experience in Laboratory and/or Hospital Information systems is required. Demonstrated upward progression in Phlebotomy or Clinical Lab setting. Prior teaching experience is preferred.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
High School diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program.
TRAINING DESCRIPTION:
Previous Epic training experience required.
SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:
Excellent customer service, organizational, and motivational skills. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to effectively train employees and students using different teaching/training styles and methods.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:
Certification or eligibility for certification by a national phlebotomy certifying agency such as ACA, ASCP, or NCA is preferred.
