POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pediatrician at the Joseph P. Addabbo Health Center works under the supervision of the Center’s Pediatric Medical Director. They are responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare and preventive services. The Pediatrician plans and implements medical care programs for children from birth through adolescence to support their mental and physical growth and development.
The Pediatrician examines patients to determine the presence of disease and to establish preventive health practices. They determine the nature and extent of disease or injury, prescribe and administer medication and immunizations, and perform a variety of medical duties. Additionally, the Pediatrician is responsible for ensuring continuity of care, including for patients admitted to the Addabbo Health Center’s affiliated hospital.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Pediatrician will work cooperatively with other allied health providers including the nurses, medical team assistants, counselors, social workers, psychologist, psychiatrist, pharmacists, nutritionist and laboratory technologists in providing comprehensive team health care.
• Evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for patients with acute illness.
• Treatment, counseling, and referral for rehabilitation for maintenance of patients with chronic conditions.
• Coordination of specialty services for consultation and treatment.
• The Pediatrician is expected to participate in Continuing Professional Education programs.
• Preventive care consists of periodic physical examinations, immunizations, health education and preventive screening.
• The Pediatrician will be required to participate in other Health Center related tasks as directed by the Medical Director. These may include, but not limited to, Quality Assurance, Patient Education in the Community, Completion of Survey, etc.
• The Pediatrician will follow the guidelines provided in the Policy and Procedures Manual for Pediatric Medicine.
• Providers will also be subject to on-call responsibilities

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduate of an approved medical school.
• M.D. Licensure in New York State.
• Board certified or board eligible in pediatrics.
• Ability to travel across all sites
