JOB SUMMARY
Responsibilities will vary depending on specialty and particular assignment. Clinical support staff is responsible for providing professional care for patients following established standards and practices. Assists provider and other staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients, staff, and provider.
Monday - Friday
Full Time, 80 hours per pay
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Completion and/or certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred or equivalent experience.
• Medical Assistants Certification or Registration preferred.
• CPR certification - approved by the American Heart Association.
• One year in a medical office preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Pre-certify insurance coverage for outpatient clinic visits; assures precertification does not expire for follow-up visit.
• Greet patient in waiting area and escort to treatment area.
• Intake history of patient, document pertinent information.
• Answer patient phone questions, refill prescriptions via phone, fax, or computer with physician/provider approval\Performs drug screenings, blood pressure, weight and any other clinical information requested by provider.
• Answer home health related questions and related physician orders.
• Keep patient's chart current using EHR.
• Order medical supplies, drug screening supplies.
• Complete indigent forms for pharmacies.
• Locates test results and other pertinent patient records prior to appointment. Posts tests and examination results on patient chart.
• Communicates test results to physician, and shares with patient per physician preferences.
• Assist with copy and release of medical records according to HIPAA regulations.
• Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines, maintaining equipment, instruments, and stocks supplies.
• Maintain confidentiality in matters regarding the organization, its patients and employees.
• Attend appropriate meetings and participate in committee as assigned.
• Must display an image of personal and professional competence, including knowledge and adherence to the Standards of Behavior and AIDET.
• Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques, including taking vital signs and weights.
• May also be required to perform EKGs and CPR.
• Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods.
• Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data.
• The interpersonal skills necessary to interact with staff members, patients and physicians.
• Good customer services skills and telephone etiquette.
• Ability to maintain quality control standards.
• Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
• Knowledge of basic pharmacology and medical terminology.
• Words collaboratively with the school district staff on engagement opportunities; become integrated with the student body, ensuring an awareness of clinic presence.
• Participates in school safety and security programs.
• Observes and supports hospital and school policy.
• Other duties assigned by the Practice Manager and providers.

Working Conditions and Physical Environment
• Works in a patient care setting where there is potential exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials; and electrical, fire, chemical, physical contact and equipment hazards
• Fast-paced setting with rapid patient turnover
• High patient traffic
• Close-quartered and shared work space
• Sufficient mobility to negotiate physical plant
• Strength and endurance sufficient enough to perform physically for long periods of time without sitting (four to eight hours). May include: walking; lifting 25 – 50lbs with or without assistance; bending; twisting; standing; sitting; reaching; stair-climbing and descending.
• Physical dexterity and psychomotor skills to respond adequately and appropriately to routine and emergency patient care needs in an ambulatory setting
• Visual and auditory capabilities sufficient to read information and respond to patient care needs
• Ability to work in a computerized environment that includes prolonged sitting and use of keyboard, mouse, and monitor
• Cognitive ability to accurately observe, analyze, and interpret general and technical data both verbal and written to accurately communicate this information
