Job Requirements
Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the on-site provider, assists in the delivery of patient care for the Primary Care team in Centreville. Performs delegated clinical duties, supports providers and nursing staff with patient care, and may complete clerical and administrative tasks. Utilizes the electronic medical record (EMR) for documentation and care coordination. This role requires access to medication storage areas and the transportation of medications between storage and patient care areas as appropriate.
Actively participates in daily clinic operations and patient flow while serving as a resource and mentor to Medical Assistant I team members. Demonstrates leadership through collaboration, teamwork, communication, accountability, exceptional customer service, and advanced clinical knowledge to support high-quality patient care and operational excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
• Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting patients professionally, addressing questions and concerns, and promoting a positive patient experience.
• Perform patient intake, obtain and document medical histories, screenings, vital signs, and chief complaints, and prepare patients for provider examinations.
• Conduct routine clinical tests and procedures, assist providers with patient care, administer select medications/vaccines as permitted, and provide patient education.
• Maintain a safe, efficient clinical environment by disinfecting equipment, stocking supplies, ensuring equipment readiness, and adhering to regulatory and organizational policies.
• Support practice operations through administrative tasks, participation in team meetings and process improvement efforts, staff development, and ongoing professional education.

Work Experience
Education & Experience - Required
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Special circumstances to consider an exception may include: (1 year of supervised work experience in a medical assisting field within the last 3 years). These should be vetted by Human Resources Director and Department Director.
• Current National certification through AAMA, NHA, AAH or AMT.
• Certification Includes:
• Certified Medical Assistant
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
• Registered Medical Assistant
• Three (3) years of medical assisting and medical practice experience.
• Current BLS certification.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.
• Knowledge of blood and body fluid precautions.
• Ability to perform basic clinical skills such as obtaining vital signs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, team members within the practice, and other members of the organization.
• Demonstrates ability to work on a team and effectively communicate with colleagues and patients.
