Job Requirements
Under the direct supervision of the provider, the Medical Assistant II plays a key role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting daily clinical operations. This position is responsible for performing delegated clinical duties, assisting providers and nursing staff, documenting patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR), and supporting efficient patient flow throughout the practice.
The Medical Assistant II serves as a clinical resource and mentor for Medical Assistant I team members, demonstrating leadership through collaboration, communication, accountability, customer service, and advanced clinical expertise.
Patient Care & Clinical Support
• Obtain and document patient histories, chief complaints, screenings, and assessments in the EMR.
• Record vital signs and promptly communicate abnormal findings to providers.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers with procedures.
• Perform clinical testing, including:
• EKGs
• Point-of-care testing
• Vision and hearing screenings
• Incentive spirometry
• Blood and urine specimen collection
• Administer approved medications and vaccinations under provider supervision and according to policy.
• Provide patient education materials as directed by providers.
• Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and clinical supplies.
• Follow infection prevention, sterilization, and safety protocols.

Leadership & Team Collaboration
• Serve as a resource and mentor for Medical Assistant I team members, students, and new hires.
• Participate in competency validation, training, and skill development activities.
• Actively engage in clinic huddles, staff meetings, and process improvement initiatives.
• Promote a positive patient experience through excellent communication and customer service.

Administrative Responsibilities
• Support front desk operations as needed, including patient check-in/check-out, scheduling support, scanning, filing, and patient communications.
• Review and respond to practice communications, including EMR messages, emails, and phone inquiries.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory, practice, and organizational policies.
• Escalate patient concerns and service issues appropriately to ensure timely resolution.

Work Experience
Education
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.

Certifications
Current national certification through one of the following:
• AAMA (CMA)
• NHA (CCMA)
• AMT (RMA)
• AAH

Additional Requirements:
• Current BLS Certification

Experience
• Minimum of three (3) years of Medical Assistant experience in a healthcare practice setting.
