Job Requirements
At University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, you will be part of a team dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to our workforce and community. We are seeking a compassionate and customer-focused Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Employee Health team.
In this role, you will support employee onboarding and occupational health services by coordinating appointments, administering vaccinations, conducting clinical assessments, and providing direct nursing care. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering an outstanding employee experience.
What You'll Do
Clinical Responsibilities
• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with Maryland Practical Nursing standards and organizational policies.
• Obtain and document vital signs, health histories, and clinical observations.
• Administer vaccines and medications as ordered and within scope of practice.
• Collect specimens for laboratory testing and ensure proper handling and documentation.
• Observe, assess, and report changes in employee health status to the appropriate healthcare provider.
• Accurately document care, treatments, and employee interactions in accordance with departmental standards.

Employee Health & Occupational Services
• Assist with pre-employment health screenings and onboarding requirements.
• Schedule employee health appointments and maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate immunization reviews, vaccine administration, and follow-up care.
• Support regulatory compliance initiatives related to employee health requirements.
• Educate employees regarding occupational health policies and wellness initiatives.

Collaboration & Patient Care
• Assist in implementing and monitoring individualized plans of care.
• Communicate pertinent clinical information to physicians, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Contribute to care plan evaluation through documentation and communication of employee responses to treatment and interventions.
• Participate in quality improvement, research, and departmental initiatives as requested.
• Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Work Experience
Education and Experience
• Graduation from an accredited school of Practical Nursing required.
• Currently licensed by the Maryland State Board of Nursing required. Recent appropriate nursing practice (within past 5 years) or refresher course within the past six (6) months.
• One (1) year clinical medical office experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs.
• Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential matters. Demonstrated/documented effective interpersonal skills.
• Maintains updated hospital safety and other mandatory training.
• Updated immunizations as recommended per practice area.
