• JOB SUMMARY
• In partnership with the Satellite Lab Supervisor, the Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist oversees daily laboratory operations, staff performance, and quality standards at Fairview Hospital, a member of Berkshire Medical Center. This role supports personnel training, competency assessment, regulatory compliance, and accurate, timely laboratory testing and reporting. The Lead serves as a key liaison with physicians, nursing staff, and other departments to promote high-quality patient care, operational excellence, and regulatory readiness. Responsibilities also include maintaining laboratory information system (LIS) functions and participating in the education and training of Medical Laboratory Science students under the direction of the School Director.
• JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Experience:
• 3 Years experience in an approved laboratory.
• Education:
• 3 years experience in an apporoved laboratory.
• Licensure & Certifications:
• MTCLSC - Certified Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist through ASCP or NCA or CLIA approved equivalent.
• SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Independent judgment and initiative required to schedule, organize, and plan work.
• Ability to teach medical technology students on how to process specimens and answer computer-related questions.
• Flexibility and adaptability in emergency situations including working additional hours or shifts.
• Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and alertly for extended periods of time, and under stress, to ensure against errors.
• Above average manual dexterity.
• Effective communication skills, use of computer systems, listening, speaking, writing and reading.
• Knowledge of HIS and LIS.
• Assorted laboratory analyzers and equipment appropriate to scope of position and dependent upon current technology.
