• DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
• The Therapeutic Radiation Physicist is a highly skilled member of the Radiation Oncology team responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and effective delivery of radiation therapy. Physicist provides clinical medical physics support for treatment planning, treatment delivery, equipment performance, quality assurance, radiation safety, and the implementation of emerging technologies. Working collaboratively with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, physicians, nurses, engineers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team, the Therapeutic Radiation Physicist applies advanced knowledge of radiation physics to optimize patient care while maintaining the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
• POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
• Experience:
• Three years of experience in clinical medical physics in a hospital setting.
• Education and Training:
• M.S. or PhD. in Medical Physics
• Completion of the CAMPEP accredited residency program is preferred.
• License, Certification & Registration:
• ABR - Certification in Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology or Radiation Oncology Physics by the American Board of Medical Physics, or in the process to obtain the certification
• Other Requirements:
• Must demonstrate independent judgment and decision-making capabilities.
• Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of radiation therapy physics, dosimetry, treatment planning, radiation safety, and quality assurance.
