Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)
Forsyth Medical Center | Full-Time Days (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) | Winston-Salem, NC
Join the region's busiest and most advanced Emergency Department. Our Emergency Room serves patients across 15 counties. As an ED RN, you'll provide expert care to patients of all ages, from infants to geriatrics, with a typical 4:1 patient ratio. The department sees approximately 190 to 240 patients daily and cares for a wide range of conditions, including cardiac emergencies, respiratory distress, diabetic crises, behavioral health concerns, and other acute medical conditions.

What You'll Do
• Provide direct patient care with an average 4:1 patient ratio.
• Perform rapid assessments and prioritize care using triage principles.
• Monitor, assess, and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency treatments.
• Initiate and manage IV access, cardiac monitoring, and other emergency interventions.
• Care for patients experiencing cardiac, respiratory, neurological, endocrine, behavioral health, and other related emergencies.
• Assist with emergency procedures, code situations, and resuscitation efforts.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, imaging teams, and other healthcare professionals.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the electronic medical record.
• Advocate for patient safety while delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.

What We're Looking For
• Education: - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. - 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. - If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
• Experience: One year of acute nursing experience required.
• Licensure/Certification/Registration: - Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required. - Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association required.
