The Lead OR Assistant is responsible for assisting with unit and patient needs from the neonate to geriatric under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
What You'll Do
Essential Functions
Assists with patient care and treatments.
Assists with functions and provides a safe and clean environment for patient and team members.
Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Maintains clinical and professional competency, according to department policies, procedures, and protocols, as appropriate for the age of patient(s) served.
Organizes, prioritizes and coordinates various responsibilities related to peri-operative services.
Provides training and direction with appropriate patient positions for surgical procedures.
Provides education and training with use of surgical equipment.
Serves as a resource for various assigned tasks.
Collaborates with Clinical Coordinator and or Nurse Manager to identify opportunities to improve.
Actively participates in Shared Governance.
Assists in maintaining the security of medications by immediately.
Alerting pharmacy or nursing personnel of unsecured medications.
Emptying any medications sent by the pneumatic tube system and forwarding those to nursing personnel, if applicable.
Ensuring that medication areas are only accessible to approved designated team members.
Non-Essential Functions
All other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
• Education : High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Experience : Minimum of two years as an OR Assistant, required.
• Licensure/Certification : CNAI or II, preferred.
• Additional Skills (required) : Has the ability to interpret information to identify patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her specific needs. Has the knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient(s)’ age. Comprehends written and oral communication. Must demonstrate a satisfactory performance level during the training program.
• Full-time work schedule: 0630-1500 Mon-Fri
