Position Summary:
The Nurse Manager helps ensure compliance with Joint Commission, OSHA/EOC, CMS, Safety/Infection Control, and DPH licensure requirements. The role includes bi-weekly education and training for ED staff, weekly collaboration with IT to resolve issues affecting ED operations and documentation, support for system and workflow updates, and communication of IT changes to staff. In the absence of the ED Administrative Director, the Nurse Manager assumes the Director’s roles and responsibilities.
Provide day-to-day leadership for Emergency Department nursing operations while supporting an efficient, compliant, safe, and patient-centered clinical environment.
The successful candidate will be able to perform the following responsibilities:
• In partnership with the Administrative Director will ensure ED nursing operations comply with applicable regulatory and organizational requirements, including Joint Commission, OSHA/EOC, CMS, Safety/Infection Control, DPH licensure requirements, professional nursing standards, and NeighborHealth policies.
• Collaborate closely with the ED Administrative Director, medical, nursing, operational, and interdisciplinary leadership to support quality, safety, patient experience, departmental goals, and effective Emergency Department operations.
• Partner with the ED Administrative Director to provide biweekly education and training to ED staff, supporting clinical competency, practice updates, regulatory readiness, and staff development.
• Collaborate with the IT Department on a weekly basis to identify, update, and resolve IT issues affecting ED operations and documentation; support system updates, workflow changes, and electronic updates within the ED; communicate IT updates and serve as a liaison between ED staff and IT.
• In the absence of the ED Administrative Director, assume the Director’s roles and responsibilities to ensure continuity of Emergency Department leadership and operations.

• Current, unrestricted Massachusetts Registered Nurse license, ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred.
• At least five years of RN experience, including two to three years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience and relevant experience in emergency nursing, acute care, high-acuity care, or a comparable clinical setting.
• Emergency Department, emergency nursing, acute care, trauma, critical care, urgent care, or community health center experience preferred.
• Demonstrated Emergency Department nursing competency, including rapid assessment and triage, emergency and crisis response, clinical prioritization, patient stabilization, medication safety, infection prevention, and management of high-acuity and time-sensitive conditions.
• Experience managing clinical workflows, patient flow, medication-related processes, nursing documentation, quality-improvement initiatives, patient-safety events, and regulatory or survey readiness.
• Working knowledge of Joint Commission, Massachusetts Department of Public Health requirements, Massachusetts nursing regulations, CMS requirements, OSHA/EOC standards, Safety/Infection Control requirements, HIPAA, and applicable Emergency Department regulatory and licensure requirements.
• Proficiency with Epic or another electronic health record and the ability to use clinical and performance data to identify trends and guide improvement.
• Strong communication, collaboration, customer-service, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary emergency, medical, nursing, operational, and IT teams.
• Sound independent clinical judgment and the ability to manage sensitive patient and operational information with professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.
• Demonstrated competency in emergency response and high-acuity clinical situations, with the ability to support safe, timely, and effective care within the Emergency Department.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• This position operates in a fast-paced Emergency Department and professional administrative environment.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to operate a computer and other office equipment.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing administrative and computer-based tasks.
• Occasionally required to lift or move items weighing up to 20 pounds (such as files, office supplies, or small equipment).
• Must have adequate visual acuity, hearing, and manual dexterity to perform essential job functions.
• Regularly moves between Emergency Department clinical and administrative areas and may be exposed to the conditions of a typical acute-care environment.
• Expected to follow all NeighborHealth and OSHA safety policies and procedures, including maintaining a safe and ergonomic work environment.

Salary commensurate with experience. Salary range $135,000-$175,500
