Salary: Starting at $70000 – depending on experience / education
Job Summary
The Food Service Director oversees all aspects of food service operations, overseeing the daily operations in the Food and Nutrition Services Department and Education Cafeteria’s. Responsibilities include staff management, menu planning, budgeting, compliance, and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for overseeing the daily food service operations at Food and Nutrition, school cafeterias, and multi-residential units.
• Responsible for overseeing the preparation and serving of food to meet the regulatory guidelines and nutritional needs of the individuals we serve and the employees. Assures that food is handled in a safe and sanitary manner. Oversees food preparation to ensure it is appetizing and attractive, prepared in correct quantities, and quality.
• Staff Management: Hiring, training, and effectively supervises food service personnel in a positive manner and promotes teamwork and efficient production. Direct involvement in recruiting, hiring, and evaluating performance of FNS staff.
• Directly manages the Assistant Director of Food Services, Food Service Managers and Clinical Dietitian(s) to maintain efficiency and service standards
• Oversees on the job training for employees on food handling and department policies and procedures. Assures a safe workplace.Inventory: maintains systems and procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, preparing and serving food and related products.
• Works with Dietitians on menu planning including therapeutic and dysphagia diets, and developing new recipes for menu cycle.
• School Lunch/Procurement: Every 3 years coordinates a fair bidding process with local food distribution companies. Every 5 years go out to bid on small purchases (Milk/Bread/Ice Cream) to meet the procurement guidelines for the State.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensures that local and state requirements are adhered to for food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Updates and maintains weekly department inventory and donated food inventory, performs other functions such as maintaining records to comply with Woods Services, government, and accrediting agency standards.
• Oversees the Kronos timekeeping system to assure accuracy and compliance with Woods attendance policies and procedures.
• Responsible for maintaining an effective working relationship with all levels of the Food and Nutrition department, Woods organization and affliates.
• Responsible for adhering to all Woods Services policies and procedures.
• Responsible for decisions related to the FNS department and report any emergencies to Woods Services President.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Management or Nutrition is required as well as a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a food services supervisory role.
• An Associate’s degree or Culinary Arts degree with extensive industry experience will be considered in place of formal education.
• ServSafe Certification and Valid Driver’s License are required.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, be agile, bend, squat, stretch, reach, push up and stand for several hours at a time.
• Must be able to read, write, enter dates and follow verbal/written directions, prepare written reports, and complete forms in English.
