Vocational Counselor- Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services Men's Residence- Full Time- Days

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Facilitate Vocational psycho-educational groups ranging from small classes to larger didactic sessions.
• Attain a base level of competence in the tenets of the Matrix Model and provide behavioral coaching to clients within this framework.
• Implement existing curricula and develop additional group material as needed. Ideally, curricula should engage clients in vocational goal setting and support individual treatment planning activities.
• Facilitate additional groups as necessary and maintain the overall treatment structure of the unit (teach clients about behavioral expectations, observe and report clinically significant behaviors to the Clinical Team, thus ensuring the safety of all in the treatment setting).
• Demonstrated skills at being an outstanding team member. This will include conduct that at all times recognizes and supports the primacy of team needs, agendas and priorities over individual ones

Required Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in either counseling, psychology, sociology, or otherwise related field
• A minimum of two years of experience in the career counseling of clients with alcohol/substance abuse problems and/or clients from other disadvantaged populations

Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Masters degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, or related field of rehabilitation psychology; or Masters degree in any counseling or psychology specialization
• One year of experience in the career counseling of clients with alcohol/substance abuse problems and/or clients from other disadvantaged populations
• Rehabilitation Counseling Masters Degree student supervised by a CRC.

Physical Requirements:
• Frequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard).
• Lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs. (e.g., boxes, equipment), with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, as the position may require.
• Capacity to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Location and Travel Requirements:
• Location: Onsite at Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services Residential Campus- 6621 NYS Route 227, Trumansburg, NY 14886
• Shift- Days
• Travel- 25% travel: Provide support for clients pursuing academic credentials which may involve transportation or accompaniment to GED programs

Pay Range Disclosure:
Standard Rate of $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
