About the Role:
The UCC/Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) at Bibb Medical Center plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients experiencing acute illnesses or injuries. This position requires the ability to rapidly assess patient conditions, prioritize care needs, and implement appropriate nursing interventions in a fast-paced environment. The RN collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to ensure timely and effective treatment. Additionally, the role involves educating patients and their families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care to promote optimal health outcomes. Ultimately, the RN contributes to maintaining a safe, efficient, and patient-centered urgent care and emergency department setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Alabama.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong knowledge of nursing principles, patient assessment, and emergency care protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Experience working in a high-volume urgent care or emergency department environment.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.

Responsibilities:
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, medical history, and presenting symptoms to determine urgency and care priorities.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as ordered by healthcare providers while monitoring patient responses and documenting care accurately.
• Coordinate patient flow within the urgent care and emergency department to optimize efficiency and reduce wait times.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and preventive health measures.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations, including performing life-saving interventions and collaborating with the healthcare team during critical events.
• Maintain compliance with infection control protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe care environment.
• Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems to document patient care activities and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members.

Skills:
The RN utilizes critical thinking and clinical judgment skills daily to assess patient conditions and prioritize care effectively in a dynamic environment. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and providing clear education to patients and families. Proficiency in technical nursing skills, including medication administration and emergency interventions, ensures safe and effective patient care.
