Trauma Registrar

Job description

Maintains trauma registry database with accurate data abstraction, statistics and analysis. Compliance with standards set forth by governmental/regulatory agencies and professional organizations such as the Texas and New Mexico Departments of Human Health Services, American College of Surgeons and Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine.
Skills
• Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to review and understand ICD-10 and Abbreviated Injury Score (AIS) coding.
• Ability to review and understand medical terminology and extract medical information from both electronic and paper medical records.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Window applications to include word, excel and power point.
• Possess excellent organizational skills and strong proficiency with attention to details.
• Must be reliable, dependable and able to initiate and complete projects of moderate complexity with limited supervision.
• Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
• Ability to analyze data abstracted from trauma registry and collaborate use for Trauma Programs performance improvement initiatives.

Work Experience
Two years of experience in a hospital regulatory agency or health related facility with medical data base experience required.
License/Registration/Certification
None
Education and Training
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) course required within one year of being in the position.
