Responsibilities
The Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) functions as an integral member of the surgical team, providing direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. Working under the direction of the surgeon, the CSFA assists in achieving optimal surgical outcomes through skilled intraoperative support including retraction, hemostasis, suturing, port/trocar placement and exposure, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring patient safety by anticipating needs, preventing delays, and minimizing workflow disruption. The CSFA collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in a respectful, communicative environment and supports use of evidence-based surgical practices and technologies.

Qualifications
Education
Graduate from a recognized Surgical Technologist program and a CAAHEP-accredited school of surgical assisting.
Experience
Required: Previous OR Experience
Preferred:
• Specialization in Robotics
• Completion of robotic didactic and hands-on training by Intuitive. If not currently trained by Intuitive, must successfully complete within 30 days of hire.

Certification
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP); OR
• Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
• Certified Surgical First Assistant (CFA) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
• Current BLS issued by American heart Association (AHA). If not currently certified, must obtain within 30 days of hire.

Education
Graduate from a recognized Surgical Technologist program and a CAAHEP-accredited school of surgical assisting.
Experience
