Title
Spanish Interpreter
Summary
The Spanish Interpreter position provides Spanish interpreting/translation services for all settings of the organization. Bridges communication between healthcare staff and limited-English-proficiency patients/families.
Compensation
We are committed to providing compensation information for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is $24.66–$34.81. This range reflects the base pay for this position.
Key Accountabilities
• Interprets between patients/families and healthcare staff in various departments of the hospital or at any of the clinics in Northfield, Farmington, Faribault, Lakeville, and Kenyon.
• Assists Spanish-speaking patients/families/others in setting up clinic appointments in person or over the phone.
• Coordinates interpreter services for languages other than Spanish to meet patient communication needs.
• Translates written hospital documents into Spanish.

Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of 40-hour Community Interpreter program
• Registration on the MN Department of Health Spoken Language Health Care Interpreter Roster
• Fluency, both oral and written, in English and Spanish
• Prior Medical Spanish interpreting experience, strongly preferred
• Post offer successful passing score on Spanish-English Interpretation Test (company-paid and completed remotely via phone)
• Initial Crisis Prevention Certification (CPI) within six months.
• Valid Driver's License

Schedule
• Casual/Call, 8-hour shifts (regular weekday hours are 8:00am-4:30pm)
• May include travel to off-site clinics (eligible for mileage reimbursement from the hospital to the clinics, if required)
• If called, option to come in after hours or on weekends, with a minimum of 2 hours of pay for each response.
