Position Summary
Incumbent supervises and coordinates the work of the Lead and Journey-level Sheetmetal Workers, Facilities Mechanics, and Facilities Workers who are responsible for campus-wide, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica Hospital, and on occasion, off-site University locations, projects related to fixed priced jobs for tenant improvement projects, deferred maintenance projects, trouble call issues, and support to all Project Managers for multi-craft projects. Responsible for the immediate supervision of shop staff and with hiring, discipline, evaluation, and termination of employees. Review and coordinate daily schedules and work; interface with client. Write contracts (JOCs, EDPA, PSA etc.) and conduct job site assessment and evaluation; develop and review estimates; resolve project problems, coordinate outages, and ensure job is closed and charged properly; participate in the Disaster Initial Response Team. Incumbent manages and ensures the efficiency and productivity of the staff. Under the direction of the Manager, provide broad guidelines for projects; independently determines schedules, work assignments and scope of projects. Provide quality customer service by supplying clear and concise communication with client and keeping them informed of their jobs and or projects. Maintain to the best of their ability the cost effective and timely completion of jobs.

Qualifications
• Sheetmetal Journeyman Minimum of 3 years experience (Required)
• Detailed knowledge of all aspects of the Sheetmetal trade and related codes sufficient to direct work, evaluate progress and ensure that sheetmetal work assignments meet stated and industry standards. (Required)
• Working knowledge of: construction trade practices and safety requirements sufficient to oversee all phases of repair and renovation work, prepare multi-craft estimates, work scopes, budgets and schedules; address project related delays or disruptions and bring to closure within stated timeframes and guidelines; various types of materials including metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, various angles, channel and tubing. (Required)
• Recent demonstrated experience and solid working knowledge of assembling and installing sheetmetal products such as control boxes, drain pipes, and duct work, and the set-up and operation of fabricating machines and related metal equipment in order to cut, bend, shape and straighten metals. (Required)
• Working knowledge of: current industry accepted methods and procedures for inspecting and/or troubleshoot sheetmetal products for signs of damage, deterioration, or need for adjustment; UBC, OSHA, and ADA requirements as they relate to the sheetmetal trade and the ability to recognize discrepancies of ADA and Fire/Life/Safety codes at each job and report to the Manager. (Required)
• Skill in supervising and applying human resources management principles to a skilled trades unionized workforce sufficient to conduct performance evaluations, counseling, feedback sessions and implementation of progressive corrective action. (Required)
• Ability to: read work project specifications, blue prints, and technical trade related manuals; determine gauge and type of metal to be used according to product being fabricated. (Required)
• Ability to: establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co­workers, other skilled trades, and the ability to work as part of a team; use oral communications skills to obtain or convey accurate information; prioritize assignments, organize work assignments of crew, and complete projects in a timely manner; maintain equanimity in the face of resistance, indifference or hostility. (Required)
• Skill in writing clear and concise business related memos and emails using correct grammar and spelling. (Required)
• Ability to: work overtime or alternate shifts as needed; work under adverse situations and conditions e.g. dirty, noisy, etc; consistently report to work on time prepared to perform the duties of the position. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
• Other Type of Degree Satisfactory completion of a certified apprenticeship or equivalent education and experience. (Required)
• Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA noncommercial Class C License in accordance with the California (CA) Department of Motor Vehicles. (Required)

• Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
• Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
• Driving Record: The position is subject to the California DMV "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
