Job description

Ready to build something meaningful?
Blue Ridge Health is looking for an experienced development professional excited to do more than meet fundraising goals. We are looking for someone who wants to help shape what philanthropy can make possible for communities across Western North Carolina and help increase access to the healthcare people and communities need.
As Senior Development Manager, you will have the opportunity to grow a comprehensive fundraising program, deepen relationships with donors and community partners, and play a key role in future capital campaign efforts. You will help tell the story of Blue Ridge Health’s impact and connect people who want to invest in stronger, healthier communities with opportunities to do exactly that.
Build what comes next
This newly created leadership position offers the right person a distinct opportunity to shape the future of philanthropy at Blue Ridge Health. You won’t simply step into someone else’s playbook; you will bring your own experience and ideas to strengthen what works, build what’s needed, and help define how we engage donors and philanthropic partners for years to come.
You will join us at a time of significant growth and possibility, with opportunities to help lead future capital initiatives, expand major giving, and share the impact of Blue Ridge Health across Western North Carolina.
What you have the opportunity to do
• Lead the strategy and day-to-day work of Blue Ridge Health’s philanthropic efforts, including major gifts, donor stewardship, annual giving, grants, and capital initiatives.
• Cultivate meaningful relationships with donors and prospective supporters, listen to what matters to them, and connect their interests with opportunities to make a measurable difference.
• Help prepare for and lead future capital campaign efforts.
• Build and strengthen our major gifts program and donor pipeline.
• Develop thoughtful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
• Identify new philanthropic opportunities and deepen relationships with existing supporters.
• Work alongside our robust Communications team to tell compelling stories of impact, develop donor-facing materials and campaigns, and connect philanthropy with the people, programs, and communities it makes possible.
• Develop annual and long-term fundraising goals and meaningful measures of progress.
• Strengthen the systems, processes, and tools that support an effective development program.
• Represent Blue Ridge Health to donors, community partners, and other stakeholders throughout Western North Carolina.
• Help build a culture of philanthropy across the organization and help colleagues understand the role they can play in advancing our mission.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for an experienced development professional who understands that successful fundraising begins with relationships. You’re comfortable building relationships with donors, listening for what matters to them, and connecting their interests with meaningful opportunities for impact.
You bring experience in major gifts and donor cultivation, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to move comfortably between big-picture strategy and the details required to execute it.
A bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3-5 years of related experience are required. CFRE certification and experience working in healthcare or another mission-driven organization are valued. Experience with Blackbaud fundraising software is a plus.
