Job Summary
Overview Position
We are seeking a scientifically motivated individual for a pre-Ph.D./M.S. research opportunity within the MGH Hepatology research environment. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of a one-to-two-year extension, emphasizing training and the acquisition of advanced biological and computational skills. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative team, work under the direct mentorship of Principal Investigator Prof. Nadia Alatrakchi and learn essential skills for a future career in science.
Research Focus
Our laboratory studies immune cell populations in the setting of human disease, with a particular focus on innate immunity. We utilize in vitro and in vivo assays, single-cell RNA sequencing, and spatial transcriptomics to investigate the liver microenvironment and peripheral blood of patients and animal models of fatty liver disease. Additionally, we study chronic viral hepatitis pathologies, including HBV and HIV coinfections. Our goal is to uncover the molecular mechanisms driving disease progression to develop more effective therapeutic strategies and predictive diagnostic tests.
Qualifications

Yes Licenses and Credentials Experience Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment 1-2 years preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures. - Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments. - Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools. - Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges.
