By integrating mouse genetics, organoid systems, human iPSC-derived models, and large biobank cohorts, the laboratory bridges fundamental discovery, translational research, and clinical investigation. Its overarching goal is to uncover disease mechanisms that can be translated into personalized therapies for patients. The laboratory is also committed to training the next generation of physician-scientists and biomedical researchers. Dr. Knauf has supervised more than 30 research trainees and serves as Co-Director of the M.D.-Ph.D. Program “Re-Thinking Health.” Dr. Knauf previously held faculty positions at Yale University and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He recently joined Mayo Clinic, where his research continues in close collaboration with teams at these esteemed institutions.
