Age Specific Responsibility
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned department. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
Summary
The Rehab Tech - Team Lead primarily fulfills the Rehab Technician responsibilities while also serving as a resource for the team and providing administrative support to their direct manager. Duties include scheduling, compliance maintenance for assigned staff, assisting with departmental operations and completion of general rehab tech duties. The Team Lead will also assist therapists and therapy assistants as assigned in preparation and treatment of patients receiving therapy services.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Team Lead Responsibilities:
• Maintains the knowledge and understanding of all rehab tech responsibilities and duties.
• Trains new rehab techs for outpatient Grand Rapids campus, including peds hospital.
• Ensures competency completion for new rehab techs:

o Hoyer, pool equipment, compliance logs, device cleaning, scope cleaning, casting assistance, splinting assistance
o Gym specific needs – grocery orders, feeding kitchen supplies, ADL kitchen
• Monitors Compliance logs to ensure accurate completion.
• Assists in the hiring of new rehab technicians, including participation in peer interviews.
• Organizes and manages rehab tech schedules to ensure proper coverage throughout buildings, which includes time away management such as PTO and leaves of absence.
• Maintains and encourages open communication with the rehab tech team through meetings, emails, rounding, etc.
• Completes annual performance evaluations and participates in performance management and disciplinary processes for the Rehab Tech team, in collaboration with the upline leader as appropriate.
• Shares updates on new processes, policies, or procedures from leadership and helps staff understand changes and ensures follow-up while providing staff feedback to leadership as needed

Rehab Tech Responsibilities:
• Provides patient care as requested by therapist:

o Transports and transfers patients observing safety precautions and good body mechanics.
o Following competency testing, applies therapeutic modalities, as assigned by therapist
o Carries out specific treatment activities under direction/supervision of primary therapist or assistant.
• Monitors patient response to treatments and provides written/verbal feedback to therapist and therapy assistants.
• Maintains a clean and orderly workplace:

o Acquires and replaces equipment and supplies in proper place following treatment.
o Cleans and maintains equipment according to department infection control policies and procedures.
o Maintains storage and inventory of equipment and supplies.
o Maintains adequate clean linen supply and changes linen in accordance with established guidelines.
o Maintains treatment areas in a clean and orderly condition.
• Assists in maintaining charts, filing, and retrieving records as requested.
• Functions as patient advocate and maintains patient confidentiality.
• May order and maintain inventory as assigned by supervisor.
• Performs one or more of the following duties according to program need:

o Organizes and maintains patient chargeable equipment inventory.
o Maintains training equipment.
o Assumes patient care and clerical duties under therapist direction across all inpatient programs and/or disciplines.

Customer Service Responsibilities
Demonstrate excellent customer service and standards of behaviors as well as encourages, coaches, and monitors the same in team members. This individual should consistently promote teamwork and direct communication with co-workers and deal discretely and sensitively with confidential information.
Responsibilities in Quality Improvement

Essential Job Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months experience as a Rehab tech or equivalent role such as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant.
• Possesses and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider certification to meet department/program protocol.
• Department- Specific Requirement - Sub-Acute Care: Must possess and maintain the Certified Emergency Nurse Accreditation (CENA) in accordance with department/program protocols.
• Effective communication skills for accurate, concise, and organized verbal and written communication is required.
• Possesses teaching ability, leadership ability, and high professional standards.
• Must be well organized, be able to set priorities, work independently and is an effective team member.
