**Job Title:** Clinical Nurse II – Nightshift
**Location:** 7 West Medical Surgical Unit, UM BWMC, Glen Burnie, Maryland
**Job Type:** Full Time Nights - 3 - 12hr shifts a week
**Job Description:**
UM BWMC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Nurse II to join our 7 West Medical Surgical Unit on the nightshift. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a fast-paced medical-surgical environment, demonstrating clinical expertise, critical thinking, and compassionate patient-centered care. This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and adherence to hospital policies and standards.
**Responsibilities:**
• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients on the 7 West Medical Surgical Unit during nightshift hours, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Perform thorough patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and document changes in patient conditions accurately and timely.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed, adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, healthcare team members, and ancillary staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care to promote health and recovery.
• Respond promptly to patient emergencies and provide appropriate interventions following hospital policies.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
• Mentor and support junior nursing staff and assist in orienting new team members as needed.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure compliance with all hospital and regulatory requirements.

**Job Requirements:**
• **Licensure & Certification:**
• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• **Experience:**
• Minimum of 1+ years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a medical-surgical unit or similar acute care setting.
• Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with diverse medical and surgical conditions.
• **Skills:**
• Proficient in patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to manage complex patient situations.
• Ability to administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
• Skilled in the use of electronic medical records (EMR) and documentation systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
• **Additional Requirements:**
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
• Physical ability to perform nursing duties, including lifting, standing, and moving patients as required.
