**Location:** 7 West Medical Surgical Unit, UM BWMC, Glen Burnie, Maryland
**Employment Type:** Full Time Days - 3 - 12hr shifts a week
**Job Description:**
UM BWMC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Nurse II to join our 7 West Medical Surgical Unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions. This role requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
**Responsibilities:**
• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients on the 7 West Medical Surgical Unit in accordance with established standards and protocols.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and intervene appropriately.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities and clinical observations.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Adhere to infection control standards and promote patient safety at all times.
• Serve as a resource and mentor to less experienced nursing staff as needed.

**Job Requirements:**
• **Licensure & Certification:**
• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• **Experience:**
• Minimum of 1+ years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a medical-surgical unit or similar acute care setting.
• Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with diverse medical and surgical conditions.
• **Skills:**
• Proficient in patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to manage complex patient care situations.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and staff.
• Competency in electronic medical records (EMR) documentation and use of clinical technology.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
