Registered Nurse – Full-Time
Location: AdventHealth Shawnee Mission/Float Pull
Schedule: Full-Time/Nights
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) Regional Float Pool is responsible for delivering coordinated nursing care to patients across designated patient care units and facilities while managing related clinical activities. This position utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based, and cost-effective care. The RN collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure patient-centered care and may provide direction and supervision to assigned nursing personnel. Care is delivered in accordance with organizational policies, professional standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable state nurse practice acts.
• Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 for eligible candidates
• Regional Float Pool Differential: Additional $10.00 per hour
• Professional Growth Opportunity: Eligible clinicians may have the opportunity to earn compensation increases through participation in the Clinical Ladder Program based on experience, professional development, and achievement of advancement criteria.
• Clinical Ladder participation is voluntary. Compensation adjustments are based on program eligibility, advancement level, and organizational guidelines.
Essential Functions
• Performs comprehensive initial and ongoing patient assessments to identify healthcare needs, evaluate clinical status, and establish priorities of care.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Administers medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions accurately and safely in accordance with provider orders, organizational policies, and professional standards.
• Monitors patient responses to treatment and modifies nursing interventions as appropriate to promote optimal patient outcomes.
• Provides leadership, direction, and clinical guidance to assigned nursing personnel while promoting adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Educates patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and health management strategies.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Collaborates with physicians, care teams, and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of services.
• Promotes patient safety and compliance with infection prevention, quality improvement, and regulatory requirements.
• Responds appropriately to emergency situations and participates in patient stabilization efforts within the scope of licensure and competency.
• Contributes to departmental and organizational goals through participation in performance improvement, professional development, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
• Provides care across multiple departments, specialties, and facilities as assigned within the Regional Float Pool.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrated ability to assess patient conditions, evaluate interventions, and modify plans of care using critical thinking and clinical judgment.
• Knowledge of nursing principles, patient care standards, and evidence-based practices.
• Ability to work independently and adapt effectively in diverse clinical environments.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records, automated medication dispensing systems, and healthcare technology.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based computer applications.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge and skill in the use of patient care equipment, including but not limited to IV therapy devices, central line equipment, pulse oximetry, nasogastric tubes, Foley catheters, chest tube systems, hemodynamic monitoring equipment, and other clinical technologies.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
Education
• Associate Degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Experience
• Minimum one year of acute care hospital nursing experience preferred.
• Experience working in multiple specialty areas is preferred.
• Licensure and Certifications
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Additional certifications may be required based on department assignment, specialty area, or state regulations.

Pay Range:
$34.04 - $63.31
