Postdoctoral Fellow - Sodora Laboratory
The Sodora Laboratory at Seattle Children’s Research Institute ( Sodora Lab Website ) is interested in understanding how inflammatory events associated with viral infections leads to severe disease outcomes. Our main focus is on HIV infection using the simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) animal model to ask mechanistic questions about host-pathogen interactions. A fully supported Postdoctoral position is currently available as part of newly NIH-funded joint project to evaluate an anti-inflammatory immunotherapy in the context of SIV infection and antiretroviral treatment.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in one or more of the following areas: Immunology, Virology, or Bioinformatics. We are seeking applicants who are highly motivated, passionate, unafraid to take risks and who thrive in a collaborative environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee, design and perform experiments investigating the role of an anti-inflammatory immunotherapy on disease course during SIV-infection and antiretroviral therapy.
• Analyze immune cell populations from liver, gut and lymphoid tissues using multiparameter flow cytometry.
• Analyze immune changes within tissues utilizing immunofluorescence antibody detection and confocal microscopy.
• Analyze data and that will be utilized in your presentations, manuscripts, and research proposals.
• Participate in the mentoring of undergraduate students, graduate students, and research technicians.
• As this is a laboratory position, no direct interaction with animals is required.

Required Education and Experience
Doctorate degree (PhD/DVM/MD) in specialty area from an accredited university training program.
Experience using basic research techniques of specialty area.
Required Credentials
N/A.
Preferred
• Research experience in immunology, infectious disease, or bioinformatics.
• Experience with flow cytometry, mammalian cell culture, or immunofluorescence microscopy.
• Experience analyzing large data sets, such as single cell transcriptomics
• Ability to design experiments, analyze data critically, and communicate findings clearly.
• PhD in immunology, microbiology, cell biology, or a related discipline.

Compensation Range
$80,172 per year
Salary Information
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
