Esperanza Health Center is seeking a Family Medicine or Med/Peds Physician to join our team in North Philadelphia. Position Title: Family Medicine or Med/Peds Physician
Department: Clinical Services
Reports To: Medical Director
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Location: Esperanza Health Center – North Philadelphia
Loan Repayment Eligibility: National Health Service Corps, Pennsylvania Loan Repayment Program, or Project MedSend
Language Requirement: Spanish proficiency preferred; willingness to learn required
Position Summary
The Physician provides high-quality, Christ-centered primary care to patients of all ages in a community health setting. This includes managing acute and chronic medical conditions, collaborating with interdisciplinary care teams, mentoring students and mid-level providers, and supporting Esperanza’s spiritual mission. Physicians must be committed to biblical ethics in medical practice and care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Clinical Excellence & Workflow
• Arrive to shifts and meetings on time and prepared
• Complete clinical documentation within 24 hours of patient visits
• Maintain current licensure, DEA registration, and CME credits
• Manage patient panels and meet personal volume targets
• Respond promptly to urgent patient calls and messages
👩⚕️ Team-Based Care
• Lead and participate in team huddles
• Delegate responsibilities to medical assistants and support staff effectively
• Ensure timely follow-up for chronic conditions, abnormal labs, and no-shows
• Coordinate care for walk-ins and unscheduled patients
• Encourage efficiency and minimize patient wait times
• Model positive, respectful communication with all team members
• Chart and complete referrals in real time when possible
🩺 Clinical Judgment
• Deliver appropriate care based on established clinical guidelines
• Practice cost-effective, evidence-based medicine
• Perform and document procedures accurately and safely
• Maintain up-to-date problem and medication lists
• Follow up on all high-risk labs and referrals
• Avoid prescribing or referring for elective pregnancy terminations; follow a biblical ethic on reproductive health
Holistic & Spiritual Care
• Screen for psychological and social needs and refer appropriately
• Provide spiritual care, including prayer, Scripture, and gospel-centered encouragement when welcomed by the patient
• Respect boundaries and avoid coercive spiritual conversations
• Serve all patients with humility, love, and self-control, regardless of faith background
Interpersonal & Leadership Responsibilities
• Resolve conflicts directly and respectfully
• Maintain a positive presence and contribute to team morale
• Precept and mentor medical learners and support team members
• Provide supervision for NPs and PAs as needed
• Participate in daily staff devotions and contribute to Esperanza’s spiritual culture
• Be actively involved in a Bible-teaching church
• Suggest and support continuous quality and process improvement

Qualifications
• Board-certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics
• Spanish proficiency or strong willingness to learn
• Experience working in underserved communities preferred
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Commitment to integrating Christian faith into patient care
• Must be eligible for and maintain necessary credentials for licensure and hospital privileges
