Job Summary
The Physical Therapy Resident, supervised by a physical therapist, conducts evaluations and treatments for patients referred by a physician. The goal is to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability. The resident receives training in accredited physical therapy residency programs with affiliated institutions.
Essential Functions of the Role
• Performs comprehensive evaluation, upon receipt of a written or verbal consultation, to develop a physical therapy treatment plan and goals.
• Reviews the medical records and patient history, selects and accurately performs appropriate tests and measurements.
• Administers physical therapy interventions. Documents and communicates patient status and treatment information to appropriate parties.
• Establishes rapport with the patient professionally. Maintains effective communication with seniors and other caregivers about patient care.
• Maintains accurate records and prepares timely reports according to departmental and regulatory policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Participate fully in additional educational and scholarly activities of the program. Assume responsibility for teaching and supervising other residents and students.
• Maintains an expertise of home care reimbursement system practices.
• Attends professional education programs, and reviews current physical therapy and medical literature.
• Presents or facilitates staff in service training, as directed.
• Communicate effectively with their mentoring therapist at least 10% of working hours. Discuss evaluation findings, physical examination, diagnostic test interpretation, and intended interventions continuously.

• Possesses proficient computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems and standard rehabilitation equipment.
• Demonstrate professional and technical skill in the selection, evaluation, utilization of treatment plans.

QUALIFICATIONS
• EDUCATION - Masters' or Bachelors plus 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
• EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience

Physical Therapist (PT)
Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS withing 30 days of hire or transfer.
