Opened in 2010, Palmdale Regional Medical Center is a 184-bed, acute care hospital located in Palmdale, CA. Physical Therapist
Responsible for the evaluation, planning, directing and administering of physical therapy modalities prescribed by a licensed physician. Administers treatments and physical agents to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Supervises Physical Therapist Assistant. Develops self professionally, supports and participates in departmental operations and development. Able to supervise and direct student interns.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
• Preparatory Data Gathering - Obtains appropriate physician order. Reviews patient's records and test results. Confers with physician, nursing and other members of the health care team, as needed.
• Evaluation - Performs evaluations in a setting appropriate to the patient’s disability, age and psychosocial needs. Exhibits respect for the needs of the patient and family. Exhibits accuracy in performing patient evaluations; interprets results within scope of licensure. Obtains medical history. Performs manual muscle testing, joint ROM measurements, self-care assessment, functional level assessment (transfers, balance, mobility, etc.), and sensation. Utilizes a comprehensive approach to patient evaluation and implementation of the therapy program; assesses physical, social and environmental needs of the patient within scope of practice. Develops realistic, measurable long-term and short-term goals. Discusses goals with patient/family and other health care team members. Performs evaluation within twenty-four hours of receiving an inpatient order.
• Treatment - Demonstrates innovation, skill and efficiency in developing and implementing patient treatment programs. Exhibits ability to design treatment programs for patients with varying degrees/types of disabilities and multiple medical problems. Develops innovative home programs individualized to meet the needs of the patient/family and instructs the patient and family in these programs. Apply therapeutic principles; uses appropriate knowledge and clinical judgement in observing patient's reaction to appropriate treatments. Exhibits good judgement in evaluating techniques, adjusting methodology to elicit the desired change/reach desired goals. Revises available treatment environments to enhance optimal patient performance during treatment/therapy activities.
• Discharge - Maintains active and supportive communication with patient/family and members of the health care team, as appropriate, regarding the outcome of evaluation activities, treatment programs, clinical concerns, home care programs and other issues related to the progress and discharge of patient through the therapeutic process. Initiates consideration of patient discharge on the day of evaluation to facilitate transition to home care environment.

Qualifications
Job Duties/Responsibilities Requirements:
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Therapy curriculum with a Bachelors or Masters or Doctoral degree with certification in physical therapy.
• Current California Physical Therapist License OR Physical Therapist License - Applicant (California).
• If CA PT License Applicant (PTLA) Letter recipient: licensing exam must be passed within (120) days from letter date.
• BLS (CPR) certification.
• Written and verbal communications, interpersonal skills.
• Basic organizational and computer skills.
