GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The phlebotomist position will perfonn blood collections in a safe, accurate, and professional manner in high paced work areas. This person esponsible for accurate patient identification, specimen integrity, and sample labeling. Interacts with customers in a pleasant, efficient, and cooperative manner. This position will also be training new employees, and teaching phlebotomy students.
HOURS
Monday through Friday 2pm-6pm 20 hour FTE
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
• Demonstrate a competency of phlebotomy skills and techniques including venipuncture, heel sticks, blood cultures, pediatric specimens, and special collections such as those for blood banking on an annual basis.
• Greet and identify all patients in a courteous and confidential manner. Outpatients are responded to within l O minutes of arrival to the laboratory.
• Perform end of shift duties including, but not limited to, resolving collection pending list, sanitizing work area, and restocking collection trays.
• Demonstrate behaviors of service excellence consistent with hospital-wide and department specific standards.
• Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and respect to internal and external customers alike.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certification in phlebotomy training or successful completion of on-the-job training program or one-year acceptable work performance as phlebotomist in a CUA regulated, accredited laboratory.
