A caregiver in this role will support the Inpatient Pediatrics Pharmacy at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, located in the lower level of the H Building. This high-volume, high-acuity pharmacy supports pediatric inpatient units across Main Campus and is part of a larger inpatient pharmacy serving general inpatient, Oncology, sterile products and Operating Room services. Responsibilities include delivering and restocking medications, supporting automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis), working with carousel and medication distribution workflows, answering phones, managing MAR messages and assisting pharmacists with medication preparation and workflow needs. The caregiver will help maintain medication safety, accuracy and organization during overnight operations and will spend a significant portion of the shift walking throughout inpatient areas. Following training and demonstrated competencies, caregivers may have opportunities to explore other pharmacy areas based on department needs and availability.
This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work a minimum commitment of two shifts per month. Available shifts include 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM or 8:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
• Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the Registered Pharmacist.
• Refill and maintain automated dispensing systems.
• Fill medications carts daily.
• Prepare orders and maintain inventory for the pharmacy department.
• Repackage bulk medications.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
• A high school diploma or GED.
• Upon hire, must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National HealthCareer Association (NHA)
• Upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee
• Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
• Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program
• Six months of hospital experience
• Pharmacy Technician experience in a hospital setting, especially in Pediatrics and IV/Clean Room operations

Physical Requirements:
• Typical physical demands include ability to perform functions of the job while reaching and stretching, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of job.

Personal Protective Equipment:
• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
