About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, patient-centered Patient Registrar to serve as a welcoming first point of contact for patients at Hill Health Center. The Patient Registrar plays an important role in supporting a positive patient experience by greeting and checking in patients, answering telephone calls, and assisting with patient registration.
The Patient Registrar is responsible for accurately identifying, registering, and maintaining patient records, including the input and maintenance of patient information in computer systems and registries. This position ensures data is accurate, up to date, and maintained in accordance with established operational standards while providing professional and responsive service to patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities
• Greet patients and updates demographic information into the computer system. Ensure patients and staff respectfully, courteously and appropriately
• Schedules patients into available Provider/Clinician appointment openings. Ensures to schedule appointments according to established procedures and guidelines of the department
• Assures that patients receive the next available appointments with the correct Provider
• Responsible for scheduling referral appointments according to the request of CS-HHC Provider and in accordance with policy and procedure of other institutions and agencies
• Verifies various types of insurance coverage as indicated by CS-HHC billing procedure
• Collects payment from patients for services provided. Verifies all financial information including insurance, co-payment and self-pay
• Responsible for receiving telephone calls from patients and correctly and accurately records messages for Providers (For appropriate department/site)
• Ensures to stay up to date on telephone system training (For appropriate department/site)
• Cross trains as requested by manager to support the needs of CS-HHC
• Perform all other departmental duties as required

Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of office or medical experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Computer and data entry proficiency required.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, internet, and email required.
• Ability to multitask while maintaining a calm and organized demeanor.
• Bilingual skills are highly desirable.
• Dentrix and/or electronic dental experience are highly desirable for Dental Department positions.
• Ability to travel within Connecticut regularly; occasional evening and Saturday coverage required.
