Job Requirements
Under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, the Patient Care Technician I, Multitrauma Orthopedic Telemetry (Part Time), delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, performing phlebotomy, and collecting specimen samples. This position entails monitoring and accurately documenting patient status, collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to execute care plans, and ensuring patient safety through fall prevention measures and strict adherence to safety protocols. Key responsibilities include wound care, urinary catheter management, blood glucose monitoring, orthopedic device maintenance, and prompt response to patient alarms. The technician contributes to patient comfort, maintains a safe and organized clinical environment, assists with patient admissions and discharges, and participates in hourly rounding to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Additional duties are assigned as necessary to support comprehensive patient care delivery.
Work Experience
Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent, possess current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Although prior experience is not mandatory, previous direct patient care experience within a healthcare setting is preferred. Successful candidates will exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate the ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships and collaborate within a team, and possess the capacity to prioritize tasks and perform efficiently under pressure. Furthermore, candidates should be proficient in learning and utilizing computer systems, accurately obtaining and documenting blood glucose results, and competently executing delegated nursing tasks that address the diverse needs of patients.
