Job Requirements
General Summary
This position is designed for new graduate nurses and nurses with 2+ years of ICU experience . The role provides the opportunity to build clinical knowledge, develop professional nursing practice, and become familiar with the organization and department.
Successful completion of departmental orientation and, when applicable, the Nurse Residency Program is expected. The nurse provides safe, compassionate, patient-centered care while working collaboratively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team. The nurse is accountable for their clinical practice, professional development, and overall performance.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice & Patient Care
• Provide safe, timely, effective, and patient-centered nursing care.
• Apply evidence-based practices, clinical resources, and unit-specific protocols.
• Assess patient and family needs and provide appropriate education and support.
• Involve patients and families in care planning and decision-making.
• Accurately document care and communicate patient needs to the care team.
• Seek guidance and support when appropriate.

Professional Development
• Successfully complete departmental orientation and required competencies.
• Participate in ongoing education and professional development.
• Maintain required certifications, competencies, and annual education.
• Support students, peers, and other team members with learning opportunities as appropriate.

Quality & Service
• Contribute to quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and patient safety initiatives.
• Support efforts to improve patient and team member satisfaction.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
• Participate in quality, safety, and accreditation activities as requested.
• Provide high-quality care while consistently demonstrating a commitment to exceptional service.

Patient Safety
• Identify and address potential patient safety risks.
• Report adverse events, near misses, and safety concerns appropriately.
• Follow organizational policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
• Promote effective communication and collaboration across the care team.
• Participate in hospital, departmental, and unit-based patient safety initiatives.

Teamwork & Operations
• Demonstrate an understanding of the Charge Nurse role and support unit operations.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and adapt to changing patient care needs.
• Participate in admissions, assignments, staff meetings, briefings, and unit activities as required.
• Support unit-level recruitment and retention initiatives.
• Participate in peer review and provide feedback when requested.
• Support the nursing department's mission, vision, values, and service standards.

Work Experience
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
• More than 12 months nursing experience in procedural nursing, IR/ Critical Care experience preferred. Solid knowledge and clinical skills.
• 3. Current AHA BLS certification required.
• Must meet all unit specific certification requirements: ACLS required PALS preferred

Benefits
This is a PRN rate of a flat $38.00 per hour.
