El Camino Health Medical Network is recruiting a Temporary Orthopedic Technician for our El Camino Health Primary Care and Multi-Specialty Care outpatient practices located in Santa Clara County.
Pay: $36.08 - $37.91/hour
Location: San Jose, CA
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm (Temp)

Job Summary:
The Orthopedic Technician is an allied health care individual who assists all health care professionals in the practice of medicine. They will assist in the care of sick and disabled persons and can relate well to other people, be considerate of their conditions, and able to communicate with patients.
Clinical in treatment duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Covers injured areas with specified protective materials such as bandages, gauze, or rubber pads, preparatory to cast application
• Understands and utilizes the proper application of aseptic techniques in dressing changes and setting up surgical fields
• Wets, wraps, and molds plaster bandages around area of fracture
• Assists Orthopedic Surgeons in reduction of fractures
• Trims plaster
• Removes whole and broken casts and alters position of cast to change setting of patients limb or body part as directed
• Assembles wooden, metal, plastic, or plaster material to make orthopedic splints
• Adjusts crutches, canes, braces, and splints to fit patient
• Responsible for suture removal, staple removal, and dressing changes including boot application
• Instructs patients in care of and assists patients in walking with casts, braces, crutches, and other orthopedic apparatus and supplies as ordered
• Documents interventions in the medical record
• Responsible for maintaining supplies in cast room and treatment rooms, to include ordering and stocking materials
• Assist in making follow-up appointments and consultation appointments with specialists for patients
• Follow-up with clinical patients
Preforms all other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities

• Participates in performance improvement activities
• Performs all other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities
• Adheres to HR, safety, HIPAA and compliance policies, and attendance requirements
• Completes annual health screening and online training modules
• Performs work in accordance with established schedules, policies and procedures
Minimum Requirements
Education:
• High School Diploma or GED
• 2-year previous experience as an Orthopedic Technician
• Completion of an Orthopedic Technician certification program from an accredited school
• Current BLS
Experience:
• Experience working with an EMR
• Ability to accurately type a minimum of 40 WPM
• Strong verbal and written communications, and active listening skills
• Solid patient/guest relations skills with the ability to communicate in a professional, courteous and efficient manner
• Ability to accurately perform basic math
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to effectively organize and prioritize task in order to complete assignments within the time allotted to maintain standard workflow
• Ability to work effectively as a team member who is flexible, cooperative and willing to assist others
