Job Summary:
Under the immediate supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, the incumbent performs the followings duties adhering to UCSF & department policies and procedures:

General Cleaning Tasks:
• Follow all Infection Control Policies and Procedures in maintaining a clean, sanitized, and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Perform cleaning in all areas of the operating room, including but not limited to OR suites, sub-sterile rooms, storage and utility rooms, ancillary areas, etc. Disinfect approved equipment prior to and after each use when & where applicable. Follow all departmental procedures to ensure cleaning tool and equipment are maintained appropriately.
• Perform daily cleaning of the Operating Room before case, between cases and end of the day “terminal cleaning”. Scrub the floor per established weekly schedule to meet AORN recommendations. Ensure adequate levels of cleaning supplies are maintained- i.e: soap, hand sanitizer, towels, mops, etc.

Collect and dispose of Waste and Soiled Linen:
• Follow all Infection Control Policies and Procedures pertaining to the removal of waste and soiled linen. Collect, transport, and dispose of waste and soiled linen to the designated location utilizing appropriate carts and equipment.

• Attend all team meetings as required. Follow all safety protocols and report all safety hazards immediately to the Lead ORSA or Supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Previous hospital, skilled nursing facility, or hotel cleaning experience is preferred.
• Is able to organize and prioritize work.
• Must possess good verbal and written communications skills.
• Must read, speak, and understand English.
• Basic arithmetic skills are required.
• Ability to read, write and follow simple oral and written instructions in English. Ability to speak clearly in English.
• Willingness and ability to tolerate, occasionally, some unpleasant sight and odors, e.g. blood, chemical odors, remains of vomiting, etc.
• Good grooming and personal cleanliness and willingness to wear prescribed attire.
• Ability to meet physical demands involved. Stands and walks most of working day. A turn stoops, crouches, and reaches in performing cleaning tasks. Lift and carries up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to lift and move furniture and equipment and perform duties using gloves if skin cannot tolerate cleaning chemicals or solutions.
• Willingness to work in any area or shift, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as requested.
• Ability to clean and maintain assigned areas in conformance with established procedures and standards.
• Ability to apply appropriates cleaning methods and techniques in special areas following given guidelines.
• General knowledge of equipment needed in emergencies such as floods, disaster or fires.
• Ability to maintain harmonious working relationship with associates, supervisor and clinical staff members.
• Background check, UCSF Occupational Health clearance, and physical examination is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum one year previous janitorial, hotel or hospital cleaning experience
• Computer (PC) experience
