Job description
The selected candidate will be working with the newly developed multidisciplinary team of physicians, APPs, dietitians, pharmacists and nurses to provide world class evidence-based Nutrition care for patients; including nutritional support such as enteral and parenteral nutrition.
Key areas of the role include:
• Providing enteral and parenteral nutrition support
• Caring for patients in the new Enteral Access Clinic, including Feeding tube management and tube changes
• Providing inpatient nutrition consultations and enteral nutrition care
• Helping provide continuity of care as patients move between inpatient and outpatient settings
• Working closely with multidisciplinary teams; Surgery, Interventional Radiology, and other inpatient teams
• Participating in research and educational opportunities with residents and GI Fellows
The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner performs the following tasks in any authorized setting (clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, nursing homes, or patient's home).
-Obtaining patient history
-Performing physical examinations with Nutrition Focus
-Ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with Enteral access tube changes
-Formulating a diagnostic impression
-Developing and implementing a treatment plan
-Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
-Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
-Making appropriate referrals
-Prescribing and dispensing prescription medication
-Assisting in Endoscopy
-Performing minor procedures and surgical procedures surrounding nutritional support
-Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient's age-specific needs.

Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP, ACNP.
Physician Assistant : Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional Qualifications:
Certification in Nutrition Support (CNSC) is preferred. Training will be provided for candidates requiring further expertise in nutritional support.
License or Certification:
Active BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required.
