The selected candidate will be working with the newly developed multidisciplinary team of physicians, APPs, dietitians, pharmacists and nurses to provide world class evidence-based Nutrition care for patients; including nutritional support such as enteral and parenteral nutrition. In addition, working within the new Enteral access clinic in managing enteral tubes with ongoing care such as tube changes and management for potential complications. Finally, working with patients with chronic intestinal failure will also be a part of this role through medical and nutritional management.
This role will entail both inpatient and outpatient care; establishing continuity of care for patients. Inpatient rounds include consults for nutritional support (parenteral) and complex enteral nutrition care with collaboration with inpatient teams, surgery and interventional radiology. Opportunities to conduct research as well as education is abundant in this role for rotating residents and Gastroenterology fellows
The Physician Assistant performs the following tasks in any authorized setting (clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, nursing homes, or patient's home).
-Obtaining patient history
-Performing physical examinations
-Ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
-Formulating a diagnostic impression
-Developing and implementing a treatment plan
-Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
-Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
-Making appropriate referrals
-Prescribing and dispensing prescription medication
-Assisting in surgery
-Performing minor procedures and surgical procedures
-Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient's age-specific needs.

Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP, ACNP.
Physician Assistant : Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional Qualifications:
Certification in Nutrition Support (CNSC) is preferred. Training will be provided for candidates requiring further expertise in nutritional support.
License or Certification:
Active BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required.
