Job Details
The Nurse Manager - Outpatient Services is responsible for the daily clinical and operational management of the Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), Pre-Surgical Testing (PST), Outpatient Wound Care, and Outpatient Dialysis. The Manager provides leadership and support to staff and works closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, anesthesia, nursing, and other departments to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and efficient operations. The role includes responsibility for staffing, patient flow, quality and safety, employee performance and development, budget and resource management, regulatory compliance, and department improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• BLS required
• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive nursing experience. Previous leadership or management experience preferred.
Nurse Manager Responsibilities :
Leadership & Department Operations
• Provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight for Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU), Pre-Surgical Testing (PST), Outpatient Wound Care, and Outpatient Dialysis.
• Plan, direct, and evaluate patient care and department operations to ensure safe, efficient, timely, and patient-centered services.
• Develop staffing assignments based on patient volume, acuity, workload, staff competencies, and department needs.
• Monitor patient flow, access, quality, safety, productivity, and operational performance; identify issues and implement solutions.
• Collaborate with Nursing Administration, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to support department goals, new programs, and operational improvements.
• Communicate significant clinical, operational, staffing, and safety concerns to the Nursing Director.
Ambulatory Surgery & Pre-Surgical Testing
• Oversee safe and efficient pre-operative and post-procedure care within ASU and timely patient preparation through PST.
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, advanced practice providers, physician offices, scheduling, and procedural departments to ensure patient readiness.
• Monitor patient flow, access, cancellations, delays, chart readiness, required testing, clearances, orders, and documentation.
• Identify and resolve barriers to timely procedures, discharge, patient education, and continuity of care.
• Evaluate workflows and performance data to improve efficiency and reduce avoidable day-of-surgery delays and cancellations.
Outpatient Wound Care
• Provide nursing and operational leadership for Outpatient Wound Care.
• Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and support services.
• Monitor access, scheduling, patient flow, staffing, documentation, quality, and department performance.
• Promote evidence-based wound care, patient education, infection prevention, and continuity of care.
• Ensure staff competencies, equipment, supplies, tissue products, and clinical resources are maintained and available.
• Oversee the storage, handling, tracking, utilization, and disposition of tissue and tissue grafts, including tissue freezer management, in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
Outpatient Dialysis
• Provide nursing and operational leadership for Outpatient Dialysis and ensure safe, consistent delivery of dialysis services.
• Coordinate care with nephrology providers, nursing staff, dialysis technicians, pharmacy, infection prevention, laboratory, and other support services.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, CMS requirements, infection prevention standards, and accepted nephrology nursing practices.
• Monitor scheduling, treatment flow, staffing, documentation, vascular access, patient education, quality outcomes, and safety measures.
• Ensure staff orientation, competency, and ongoing education related to dialysis care, equipment, emergency response, and infection prevention.
• Support safe operation and required monitoring of dialysis equipment, water treatment, and dialysate systems in collaboration with appropriate clinical and technical teams.
• Maintain regulatory readiness and required records, logs, policies, and quality documentation.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, treatment quality, outcomes, and patient experience.
Staffing & Staff Development
• Recruit, interview, hire, orient, and support the development of department staff in collaboration with Nursing Education and leadership.
• Develop and adjust staffing schedules to maintain safe and appropriate coverage.
• Oversee orientation, preceptor assignments, competency validation, performance evaluations, and performance management.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, engagement, professional growth, and leadership development through coaching, feedback, and recognition.
• Monitor attendance and staffing trends and address concerns appropriately.
Salary Range
USD $128,000.00 - USD $160,000.00 /Yr.
This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
