• Multidisciplinary team including emergency physicians, APPs, RNs, ER techs, mental health associates, case managers, and support staff
Schedule: This position will be working 0.9 FTE (72 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the day/evening/night shift and will also work every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
Position Overview
As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, you’ll:
• Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate individualized nursing care
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality care
• Respond to emergent and high-acuity situations with professionalism and clinical excellence
• Serve a diverse patient population from newborns to older adults
• Follow nursing best practices, hospital policies, and the MN Nurse Practice Act
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
Responsibilities
• Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
• Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
• Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
• Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
• Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
• Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
Required Qualifications
• MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
• Completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Healthcare Providers required by the end of orientation.
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 1 year of hire
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• 1 year experience
