Overview
Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in QA and QI activities.
Multi-modality rate is 5% higher increase on above rate
Responsibilities
• Performs and obtains high quality radiographs on all varieties of hospital and clinic patients (i.e. In-Patients, Emergency Room Patients or Out Patients and portable exams) and in at least one advanced modality in which they have received certification (e.g. base of RT (R) with (CT) or (MR)
• Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients
• Assists in training of students, new hires and ancillary personnel
• Tracks patients and appropriately uses RIS (Radiology Information System) EMR and Transport Tracking system
• As required, transports patients to and from modality rooms
• Assists the Radiologist during fluoroscopy procedures as requeste
• Utilizes all X-ray equipment permitted within the scope of their license and within the realm of their training including but not limited to X-ray units, fluoroscopy, mobile radiography, and mobile fluoroscopy and at least one advanced modality
• Patient care responsibilities are delivered with knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Performs duties following established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
• Interacts professionally with patients, patient families, radiology staff and staff of other hospital departments
• Adheres to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles in order to minimize radiation dose to patients
• Other duties as assigned by a member of the radiology department leadership team
Qualifications
Education:
• Graduation from an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology required; current ARRT Certificate required or eligible to be obtained within 90 days of hire
• Current ARRT in a minimum of one advanced modalities (e.g. CT or MRI)
• Current NYS license as a Registered Radiological Technologist or eligible, must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire
• Current BCLS Certificate required (either American Red Cross or American Heart Association). New employees will be required to produce a current BCLS certificate within 6 months from date of hire
• Current ARRT Certificate is required (as per the terms of the Maimonides-1199 Agreement dated October 1, 2021)
Experience:
Completion of the clinical experience required by the ARRT to be registry eligible.
Skills:
Good interpersonal skills.
Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
Pay Range
USD $48.20 - USD $75.59 /Hr.
