Medical Records - Release Of Information Specialist
We're seeking a detail-oriented healthcare professional with experience in medical records, Health Information Management (HIM), patient registration, or a medical office setting.
As the Medical Records - Release of Information Specialist you are responsible for processing medical record requests, protecting patient privacy, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations. This role reviews and releases protected health information (PHI), supports audit requests, maintains record integrity, and delivers excellent customer service to patients and external requestors.
You will bring a combination of patient registration experience, HIM or medical records expertise, advanced Epic proficiency, knowledge of medical terminology, and an RHIT credential, enabling them to quickly navigate complex release-of-information workflows while ensuring compliance and exceptional customer service.
Ideal Candidate
• Working knowledge of HIPAA, patient privacy regulations, and release of information requirements.
• Understanding of healthcare documentation, medical records management, and record retention practices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
• Proficiency with computer systems, electronic health records, and standard office applications.

Minimum Qualifications
• Associate’s degree or 2 years previous medical office or medical record experience required
• Knowledge of HIPAA
• Experience working with medical records in a healthcare setting preferred
• Epic experience and RHIT certification preferred

Salary starting at- $20.59/hr
Working Conditions
• Must be able to lift and move up to 10lbs
• Must be able to maintain a sitting position
• Typical equipment used in an office job
• Repetitive movements
