Responsibilities & Requirements
The Medical Lab Tech II performs routine and complex laboratory tests to support the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient health. This role ensures the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results through careful specimen processing, quality control, and adherence to regulatory standards, contributing to patient safety and quality care. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.
Required Education:
• Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field from an accredited institution

Required Work Experience:
• None required.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by a recognized certifying agency such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
• must be obtained prior to start date

• Proficiency in laboratory information systems and automated instrumentation
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to analyze and interpret laboratory data
• Knowledge of quality control and safety protocols

• Employee demonstrates proper patient and specimen identification to ensure patient safety.
• Employee demonstrates understanding of laboratory supplies and inventory management.
• Employee demonstrates understanding of safe practices and PPE usage for tasks being performed.
• Employee demonstrates consistent hand hygiene practices

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related discipline

Preferred Work Experience:
• Two or more years of experience in a clinical laboratory, with proficiency in multiple laboratory disciplines

Preferred Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent
