Our Lady of Consolation is located on the beautiful Great South Bay and is comprised of a 345-bed nursing and rehabilitative care center. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and inspecting building systems and equipment within the nursing home facility to ensure a safe, comfortable, and compliant environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and general repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical systems, and facility equipment.
Job Details
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of the nursing home facility, including building systems, fixtures, equipment, and common areas.
• Perform basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and other general building maintenance tasks as needed.
• Knowledge of blueprints, hand tools, power tools and woodworking power tools required.
• Assist with inspections, testing, and maintenance of facility equipment and building systems as directed. Conduct preventive maintenance.
• Inspect the building and grounds regularly and promptly report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or equipment problems.
• Perform seasonal grounds and facility maintenance, including snow removal, salting, and other weather-related duties when required.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, work orders, and emergency repair situations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, preventive maintenance records, and completed work orders.
• Communicate effectively with other departments regarding maintenance needs and building-related concerns.

Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hands-on maintenance experience mandatory.
• Previous experience in healthcare, nursing home, hospital, commercial, or industrial facility maintenance preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment, tools, and materials as required.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize maintenance requests, and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Demonstrate strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, or respond to emergencies as required by the facility.
• Basic computer skills.

Salary Range
USD $27.17 - USD $41.80 /Hr.
The pay for this position ranges from $27.17-$41.80 per hour.
This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
