Responsibilities & Requirements
The Manager RN Acute Care I is responsible for leading and coordinating nursing operations within an acute care setting to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. This role combines clinical expertise with operational oversight, regulatory compliance, and staff development to support optimal patient outcomes and efficient department functioning. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.
Required Education
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution

Required Work Experience
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations
• Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must be obtained prior to assuming patient care responsibilities)

Essential Skills
• Lead and coordinate daily nursing operations to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care in the acute care setting.
• Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff, including participation in hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation processes.
• Implement and enforce nursing policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational goals.
• Monitor patient care quality, safety, and satisfaction metrics, and lead quality improvement initiatives as needed.
• Manage department staffing schedules, assignments, and resource allocation to maintain appropriate coverage and workflow.
• Oversee compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies, including HIPAA and infection control.
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and other departments to coordinate patient care and resolve operational issues.
• Respond to and investigate patient, family, or staff concerns, taking appropriate action or escalation as necessary.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records related to patient care, staff performance, and department operations.
• Participate in budget planning, supply management, and cost control efforts to support efficient department operations.
• Foster a culture of safety, continuous learning, and professional development within the nursing team.
• Serve as a role model for ethical practice, compassionate care, and adherence to Kettering Health values.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field
• At least 2 years of experience in a nursing leadership or management role
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) or similar leadership certification
