Job description

Bring your mammography expertise beyond the walls of a traditional imaging center and help expand access to breast imaging for communities that may otherwise face barriers to care.
This opportunity combines breast imaging at UVA Health’s Northridge location with work aboard the Mobile Mammography unit. You’ll have the variety of working across two imaging environments while using your mammography experience to provide high-quality breast imaging and support meaningful community outreach.
The Role
As a Mobile Mammography Technologist, you’ll perform breast imaging while working within an established Breast Imaging team and taking mammography services directly into the community. The position offers a distinctive combination of traditional breast imaging and mobile mammography, providing greater variety than a single-location technologist role.
Your work directly supports screening and detection of breast abnormalities while helping UVA Health extend access to imaging services in underserved areas. You’ll interact directly with patients, operate specialized mammography equipment, produce high-quality diagnostic images, and collaborate with colleagues who value teamwork and shared expertise.
In this role, you will:
• Perform mammography imaging at UVA Health’s Northridge location.
• Work aboard the Mobile Mammography unit, bringing breast imaging closer to patients in the community.
• Use specialized breast imaging technology to support screening and diagnosis.
• Provide a professional, patient-centered experience during mammography procedures.
• Support community outreach initiatives designed to improve access to breast imaging in underserved areas.
• Work closely with a collaborative Breast Imaging team that shares knowledge and supports one another.
• Move between fixed-site and mobile environments, giving you greater variety than a traditional single-location mammography position. Why UVA Health

At UVA Health, mammography is more than producing an image. It is an opportunity to connect patients with potentially life-changing screening and diagnostic services. This position gives experienced mammography technologists the chance to pair their technical expertise with a mission that extends directly into the community.
What makes this opportunity stand out:
• Community impact : Help bring breast imaging services to underserved communities and expand access to important screening services.
• Variety in your work : Divide your experience between breast imaging at Northridge and the Mobile Mammography unit rather than spending every day in a single imaging environment.
• Meaningful patient interaction : Use both your imaging expertise and patient-care skills to help create a supportive mammography experience.
• Collaborative culture : Join a close-knit team where technologists share knowledge, work through challenges together, and support one another.
• Academic health system environment : Practice within UVA Health while contributing to patient care and the broader mission of an academic health system.
• A role with purpose : Take your mammography expertise beyond a conventional imaging setting and help bring breast imaging directly to people in the communities UVA Health serves.

For mammography technologists who want their next opportunity to offer more than a change of employer, this role provides a compelling combination of clinical expertise, community outreach, variety, teamwork, and direct patient impact.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of a JRC accredited program in Radiography required. Associate’s Degree in Radiography preferred. Completion of an FDA certified Mammography Tech Training Program required.
Experience: No experience required
Licensure: Registered Radiologic Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT R.T.) required. ARRT (R)(M) certification required within one year of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
